This month, we invite you to discover
the Saint-Trophime cathedral in Arles in Bouches-du-Rhône (13104)

Saint-Trophime Cathedral is a Romanesque church located on Place de la République. Built on remains from late Antiquity from 1100, it is one of the most important buildings in the Provençal Romanesque domain.

It has a high nave of five barrel-vaulted bays, flanked by narrow vaulted aisles, which dates from the middle of the 12th century, with a short transept whose crossing, surmounted by a dome, supports the bell tower.
The choir and the ambulatory date from the 15th century. The original bell tower was replaced at the beginning of the 13th century by the current square tower, the top floor of which was redone in the 17th century.
The historic portal was built around 1180-1190. The two pedimented doors that flank it were added at the end of the 17th century.

During a stay in Arles, a visit to this cathedral is a must, especially since it is located in the old town, which is full of treasures!
