A Romanesque chapel

Saint-Maclou, a beautiful Romanesque chapel in the heart of the Pays d’Auge…

Once upon a time, there was a small chapel bathed in an island of greenery and surrounded by apple trees.
Perched at the top of a hill, for a thousand years, it proudly points the rooster of its bell tower towards the sky.
Since 2005, with the creation of the Association les Amis de la Chapelle de Saint-Maclou, at the initiative of Patrick Truffaut and the faithful Members who joined him, it has seen its daily life improve, its facades regain their shine of yesteryear, its roof which no longer leaves room for infiltration, its stone cladding preserved from bad weather.
This is how the Chapelle de Saint-Maclou has regained confidence and no longer sees the ruins invading its skeleton as before 2005.
Saint-Maclou now believes in its future, a destiny taken care of by volunteers who love the heritage of our regions, faithful people who wish to preserve this place of prayer and culture.

So yes, the task remains large, because we still have to work and continue the conservation work that has been carried out, in particular concerning the restoration of the interior, the nave and the choir, the walls, the ceiling, the woodwork and furniture…
Our fight against time continues, it needs the support and investment of everyone, of those who believe in the importance of preserving a history, a place, a monument, a collective heritage.
This is the underlying reason for the actions carried out by our Association and this site chapelestmaclou.fr; a way to help you get to know us and see the merits of what we say.
Welcome to the Chapelle de Saint-Maclou, we hope that it will interest you, and that it will be convincing enough to encourage you to come and give it your support, your membership.

The President of the Association
