Saturday July 27, at the invitation of Marc Soulé, we went to Repentigny, a small village which dominates the Dorette valley.

On this occasion, we were able to visit the Saint-Martin church and admire, among other things, its medieval altarpiece dating from the end of the 16th century; a unique piece!

With a view to our future developments for the Saint-Maclou chapel, Marc presented us with the equipment produced.

These meetings between associations which have the same vision of the importance of preserving the heritage of Pays d’Auge, and which share the same objectives, contribute to advancing discussions, to the success of projects, to supporting and advising each other, as sometimes the labyrinth of constraints can prove discouraging.

A big thank you to Pierre Betelaud, parliamentary attaché to Jérémie Patrier-Leitus Deputy for the 3rd constituency of Calvados, for this connection and to Marc for his welcome.

This May 8, 2024, from 10:00 a.m., on the occasion of the ceremony commemorating the victory of 1945, the doors of the chapel were open.
The people and personalities present during this ceremony appreciated being able to access the interior of the chapel and for some, it was the first time!Documentation on this 11th century chapel was available to our day visitors.

Everyone’s satisfaction encourages us to renew this initiative.

Big Spring Cleaning

For the occasion, some members of the association’s office met at the chapel. From 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., they worked to clean the sacristy, choir and nave from top to bottom.
Not a corner escaped the duster, the broom or the vacuum cleaner, after having been polished, the woodwork smelled of wax.
It was also an opportunity to make some usual repairs, to fill in the holes through which some visitors come in during our absence.
Satisfied with the work accomplished, once finished, we rang the bell before leaving the premises.
We arranged to meet again in October for a fall cleaning.

Thanks to Annie, Chantal, Christopher, Henri-Jean, Hervé,
Jean-Paul, Téhanie for their efficiency and good humor.

Easter in Saint-Maclou

On the program : Easter eggs and tasting
products from Ferme du Bout du Chemin

In the chapel, between the choir and the nave, the tasting point with Annie, Téhanie and our guests for a day (click on the photo to enlarge it).

This Easter Monday, April 1, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., young and old responded to our invitation. After a guided tour of the premises, the chapel no longer held any secrets for anyone. The chocolate Easter eggs were a great success, as well as the tasting of cider and apple juice from Ferme du Bout du Chemin.
The atmosphere was as we like it: good-natured and warm.
Thank you to everyone who came and for those who could not come, next year, they will be able to make up for it since we will schedule this event again.

Thank you also to Annie, Téhanie and Christopher for having, on behalf of our association, welcomed our visitors.

For this occasion, the Chapel was open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., which allowed our visitors to discover or revisit
this Romanesque building from the 11th and 12th century.
These European Heritage Days are in our DNA , as we work to succeed in our project of restoration of this heritage so representative
of the history and the memory of our countryside.
On this occasion, the public was welcomed by Christopher and Hervé who, with the passion that drives them, did not fail to give you a guided tour of the place.

A big thank you to them and to all those who gave us the pleasure of their visit.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 9 AT THE EUGÈNE MOULIN GYMNASIUM IN MÉZIDON-CANON…

After a warm welcome from Mr. François Aubey, Mayor of Mézidon Vallée d’Auge, we have from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., had opportunity
to interact with the many visitors who came to meet us.

An enriching event which allowed us to talk about our chapel, to explain our project and the reason for being of our association, a pleasant experience which we will certainly repeat during the 2024 edition.

Our stand was run by Annie, the secretary of our association, a big thank you to her for her presence and her availability,
a big thank you also to all those who have shown us a strong interest in the action we are carrying out,
action aimed at safeguarding this 11th and 12th century Romanesque chapel representative of the heritage of the Pays d’Auge.
